Havertown, PA

Nestled within Haverford Township lies Havertown, a town that can be proud of its historic roots, its proximity to Philadelphia, and its family-centric lifestyles. Top level, award-winning schools (a new one is currently being built in the neighborhood of Manoa), an enormous amount of sport activities, great restaurants and convenient shopping, our annual "Township Day" festival, and a quiet little train line that shuttles people to and from town and the western suburbs, all add up to make Havertown home to many happy residents. Technically, Havertown is just 7 miles from downtown Philadelphia, and is just a mile or so from the city line, but we are a world away. On the border of Philadelphia's prestigous Main Line, where home prices have sky-rocketed to outrageous levels, Havertown has maintained its growth at more reasonable levels, offering sidewalks, mature neighborhoods, friendly "down-to-earth" neighbors, and real bargains for those looking for the best of both worlds. It's said that if a family grows up here, they return after their college or extended adventures, to settle back in Havertown, where they start their own families. In fact, it's not unusual for homes to be quietly sold to or passed down from one generation to another. Havertown is one of those places you love to come home to, and, after living here for over 17 years, and as a professional Realtor - so I know all the local areas - I wouldn't dream of leaving this beautiful place I call home.

Quiet, Beutiful, Not Friendly - 5/24/2009

Not exactly a social hub. People stick to themselves and clearly have a "Mainline" sense of entitlement. Too bad because, it's a beautiful place with lovely geography and vast historical significance in the birth of the USA.[read more...]
