My honest review - 3/28/2022
I’ve lived here for about 3 years and this is my honest review. It is an extremely beautiful place to live, small but still lots of things to do. It is getting very expensive to live here though, cost of housing is going up. Summers are beautiful with the gorgeous lake, fall is also beautiful. Winter starts early though, but the snow is always fun around the holidays. The winters are long, but once summer comes it is gorgeous. I will say this area leans on the more conservative side like eastern Washington. But it seems like the younger crowd moving here is leaning more liberal. I can definitely see it changing in the future. Read More

If you have a brain, this isn’t the place for you. - 12/6/2021
I’ve lived here my entire life and travelled the majority of the country and I have to say - I just don’t understand why anyone is moving here. The prices have skyrocketed to the point where if you aren’t coming from California with 700k cash from a sale - you just won’t be able to afford it. I would say 90% of the town is uneducated hicks who want to disguise their racism as patriotism. It’s become a very unsafe place for raise a family and is not the small town I used to love. The restaurants are mediocre, and you have to wait 45min-an hour just to be seated and service sucks. The summers are over 90° and winters below 20°, it’s just not a good place. Beautiful to visit and has wonderful outdoor activities. I will never recommend Coeur D’ Alene, ID to anyone educated or looking for culture. If you want a town full of Trump flags and coffee stands - this is the place! Read More

Great nature, also no COVID "safety" enforcement. - 7/10/2021
I've lived here for around 6 years and it is the most beautiful place I have ever been. If you're into hiking then Tubbs Hill is the best place for that! Also, masks, vaccines, etc. are not inforced, which is awesome! Beautiful nature here too. CDA Lake is Read More

C d'A is a wonderful place & the Iron man tri-atha - 4/26/2020
I've always loved C d'A!! Great place, love the climate, & the food is wonderful!! While I lived west of here in Spokane, I visited often!! The parks and resort is wonderful!! Golfing is fantastic!! Never before have I thought to hit the ball over the trees and not been successful!! Mtns on both sides is fantastic!! There is drug use & there is crime, Spokane is worse! If you love snow skiing and winter, put a giant check mark here! At least 5 ski resorts with in an hour!! Very close to Canada if you want to visit for a wine tour or more great food!! Really hope that the silver mines stay closed as they pollute everything with heavy Read More

Yuppies, go home! - 4/16/2020
Wow. Where to start. Its like an old folks home with retail. Old people-cranky ones, and wealthy-everywhere. Then there's the "lake people" i.e. too much money to be polite, respectful and with at least some human dignity-probably cali's or from back east. Worst of all is the portlandseattle yuppies that have taken over the south side of town. Most of us live in north Idaho to get away from such cankerous blight. Thanks to CDA, we all get an extra helping. Totally disappointing. Of course next to Spokane, its pretty fabo. But it still sucks the big Read More

Overpopulated & overpriced - 7/1/2019
I have been a resident of CDA for over 30 years and watched this city slowly decline into a shell of it's former self. Watching CDA go from a beautiful slow paced town to an overpopulated, overpriced, vacation destination has been incredibly depressing. I originally planned to spend the rest of my life in CDA, that dream went out the window when folks decided $ is more important than preserving the beauty of Read More

Beautiful country, but... - 6/10/2018
Overrun with immigrants from CA who have driven up the cost of real estate sky high. Also, the traffic has become brutal for a small town.
Long cold dreary winters with little sun to speak of. If you can handle this, not a bad place to live providing you have lots of $. National forest and wilderness areas to enjoy nearby as well as quite a few Read More

CDA is best! - 2/13/2018
Lived here 13 year and love it. Friendly place, community oriented and surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery. Not a high dollar ritzy place but certainly holds its own in attractions. Weather can be snowy (not always) but main roads are cleared 24/7; Sandpoint is a ski destination as is nearby Mt. Spokane. Cold at times but very comfortable. Summers are often hot and dry with thunderstorms once in a while but no rain from late June until September is often the case. I come from the Los Angeles area. Never liked the extreme heat so am loving this and would never go back, we have many former Californians here. And four seasons. Lots to do, good schools and churches, and a friendly environment. No place is absolutely perfect but I've lived in other states and Coeur d'Alene is my Read More

4 star place - 2/7/2018
Coeur d'alene is wonderful. Be prepared to either have employable and marketable career path or wealth to live comfortably in CDA. The water, outdoors, and weather is for the most part wonderful. The winters are long, but the awesome summer makes up for it. The endless activities to do in, around and outside CDA is wonderful. The high cost of taxes, property taxes, millionaires moving in and destroying the landscape, lack of diverse employment, lack of opportunities for employment, and lack of adequate modern housing brings this place down to 4 stars. Sorry, but my words are true. Be prepared for bumper to bumper and avoidance during tourist season downtown. Decent community college, but otherwise no colleges. This is a place to retire, or serve the retirees, or just be an obsessive nature hack like myself. Read More
