Grew up in Hailey and left after the age of 24. Returned 20 years later to find that our little valley had been taken over by people only interested in money and development. Sure they loved the life style and atmosphere we had, but now every square inch is being developed and the prices for everything from food, gas, housing is through the roof. Read More

Hailey sits in a long narrow valley that runs north-south in the mountains of south central Idaho. Theres a town above (Ketchum/Sun Valley) and a town below (Bellevue). You have only one road that connects through the valley so during rush hours its very busy because lots of people in the towns down in the large Snake R. valley south of here commute up here to work for the rich people who live further toward to north end of the valley. Also the road was never widened sufficiently for the traffic volume because back in the 60's when the state and feds wanted to make it a major highway the rich people up north fought it thinking it would disrupt their tranquil lifestyle. They got their way but now they have to pay big bucks for the labor and help they crave because it takes the lowlanders a long time to make the drive.
