Mind numbingly BORING. - 11/12/2016
Oh Jeff City is nice to look at, but absolutely nothing to do unless you're a drunk. Nightlife consists of a few dive bars and Walmart. If you want culture, see a real band, or really shop, you have to go to St Louis or Kansas City. The schools are underperforming though do offer a very wide range of classes, but over crowding is a major problem at the high school level.Read More

BORING!!!! - 3/21/2014
I have lived here for 28 years and its the dullest place to live. Nothing exciting happens and there is nothing to do.. The only activities are Go to a movie, a bar, or eat somewhere.. That's it. Don't waste your time passing through here and certainly don't stop and Read More

Unpredictable but tolerable - 3/21/2014
Jefferson City is a nice community.
Although crime is everywhere, it has picked up bc of some drugs that have moved in the area. Our police have been working diligently to track down the criminals.
Great schools and beautiful/affordable housing.

As for the weather?? It can be 70 degrees one day and the next it could be snowing.
It's more when the seasons are to change.
I have worn shorts and flip-flops one day and a heavy coat, literally, the very next day.

If you are looking for a nice community, friendly people, fun shops and a little German culture... Come to Jefferson Read More

Slowing quickly now, soon to be at a dead stop. - 7/26/2008
So many of the major employers in this area are laying off or have laid off large amounts of their work force. Even though this is the state capitol of Missouri, getting a state job does not mean that you will be paid well. What this state pays it's employees is embarrassing. If you can hold on for 20 years, your retirement will be very nice though.

A CPA with many years of experience can expect to start at $40K, $45 to $50 if you want to live in, or drive to Columbia, MO.

Very small town attitude that basically rolls up the sidewalks at 10pm. Most people go to Columbia, MO for a night on the town, when they can afford it.

Major employers are of course the state which includes all factions of office workers. We also have two prisons here within 17 miles, so if you have worked as a guard, or would like to, I'm sure the state would love to hear from you. Your starting pay will be around $10.00 per hour. Excellent benefits as well.

Hot and sticky. - 7/26/2008
I never minded heat until I returned to the midwest and ran into the humidity again. Becuase of this factor, when it is hot, it is really hot and in the winter what would normally be a light sweater weather quickly turns into a heavy over Read More
