Great Place to Live!! - 8/19/2021
We have recently moved to Goldsboro and just love it. We moved from another small NC town in the west where we lived for many years. Everyone here is so friendly! Much friendlier than where we previously lived. Very helpful and accepting of new residents. The downtown is really nice. It has been brought back to life… something that is not easy to do in a small town. If you are looking for a comfortable, friendly place to live, look no Read More

Great Middle Location! - 8/3/2017
It is the military that brought my husband and I to this quaint small town of Goldsboro, and we have lived here for about 4 years now. We consider Goldsboro to be a great middle location to all the exciting things that North Carolina has to offer. Being a military couple we are use to change in location and definitely try to make the best of where we move to in exploring everything around us. Whether you are a beach going and love the ocean air; or you love to hike and feel to cool breeze of the mountains they are all in a 2-4 hour drive depending on where you choose to go. In the 4 years we have been here, we have made trips from the Asheville mountains over to the Outer Banks of the NC coast line; we have also explored the East Coast of other states above and below us. North Carolina is a beautiful state that is definitely worth exploring if you give it a chance! The small town of Goldsboro is also growing each season adding new stores and restaurants and if they do not have what Read More

Goldsboro - 7/24/2017
Goldsboro is a nice homey place to live. I know a lot of people that move out of the town and come back because there is family here. There is a plenty of beaches to go to about an hour or hour in a half drive. When living off base you will find that rent or mortgage is better priced 15 minutes from base because it is not directly into town. There are lots of places to eat and the downtown area is building up for center street jams while school is out, and art areas. They do have a couple of brewery's downtown to drink your favorite beers, lots of military like to go to Brewmasters. Raleigh is about an hour drive and has malls to shop. Read More

CLOSE TO THE MOUNTAINS, THE BEACH OR THE BIG CITY - 7/18/2017
The Goldsboro area is pretty much in the middle of about anything you're looking for. Just a few hours from the most beautiful mountains I've ever seen and just a couple hours from some wonderful beaches, with the large cosmopolitan city of Raleigh/Durham less than an hour away. You can enjoy the perk's of big city entertainment and culture while avoiding the expense of actually living in it. I've lived on the outskirts of Goldsboro in a more rural area for about 5 years. Good for us introverts who can explore all the fun options then retreat to a quieter place.
The actual town of Goldsboro is undergoing a sort of renaissance . The old downtown district is currently being renovated with all sorts of small local store and restaurants. Quite lovely. Like in most military towns (Home of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base) there are restaurant options a plenty. There are also several small local Garden Centers and Nurseries for those with a green thumb, filled with options Read More

Run don’t walk away from Goldsboro. As a career Air Force person, I’ve lived all around the world. This is the worst, depressing, nastiest most backwards city ever. I hear gunshots weekly and drugs and alcoholism are everywhere. If I can see drug sales on the streets, I don't understand why the police can't. Animals are forgotten in backyards, Veterinarians charge high prices for spay and neutering, and the animals at the shelters that are adopted, are allowed to leave without being fixed so homeless animals are everywhere.Kids that do make it out and get a higher education, don't come back. Read More

One of the biggest problems in Goldsboro is transp - 2/24/2009
I have lived in Goldsboro most of my life. Born and raised here. I did leave a few times, but I have always come back, mostly due to family.
Goldsboro needs better transportation options.
Basically, if you do not have a car, you are in a mess.
There is the Gateway Bus System, but it is limited to inner city areas only.
And even then it is not reliable.
There are only a few taxi companies and they are so expensive.
I like Goldsboro, it is a nice place to raise a child. It is racially diverse, yet most of the time people do not have a problem with race.
The job market is not so great, but overall, if they could provide more jobs and better transportation, it could be a great place to Read More

goldsboro - 1/17/2008
We are here with the military, and goldsboro isn't all that bad, but most of our single friends hate it, since there really is no nightlife. It is a small town, but housing prices are driven up be the fact that everyone knows what you get for BAH and charges that for rent, or increases the price for homes for sale because the officers can afford it, which is why we live on base! Basically the military drives everything and if this base was ever closed the whole town would Read More
