COLD NIGHTS 5 MONTHS A YEAR - 4/3/2011
DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS AREA IF ONE IS SEEKING A WARM PLACE TO BE AT LEAST 5 OUT OF THE 12 MONTHS A YEAR.

THIS AREA HAS DRASTIC TEMPERATURE CHANGES BOTH SEASONALLY & DAILY. AVERAGE DAILY DEPARTURE IS ABOUT 30 DEGREES. (NORMAL IS 15-20)

ONCE THE SUN SETS, THE TEMP QUICKLY DROPS AT LEAST 15 DEGREES WITHIN THE FIRST HOUR OR TWO AFTER DARK.

50-55 AVERAGE WINTER DAY TIME HIGHS IN THE MONTHS OF NOV-FEB QUICKLY BECOME 25 DEGREE NIGHTS, NOT INCLUDING THE WIND CHILL FACTOR.

THE SUMMERS ARE COMPLETELY THE OPPOSITE...VERY HOT & EXTREMELY HUMID!

LEAVING IN THIS TYPE OF CLIMATE REQUIRES THE BODY TO MAKE DRASTIC ADJUSTMENTS TO ADAPT TO THE WEATHER EXTREMES, BOTH SEASONALLY AND DAILY.

CLIMATE IS VERY UNDESIRABLE, TO SAY THE LEAST.

TOO COLD FOR TOO LONG - 4/3/2011
Would NOT recommend this area for anyone who is seeking warm weather. This area has similar night-time LOW temps as those of The Northeast Cities. Hence, as in those areas, The Myrtle Beach area has a 4-5 month full-blown winter, temperature-wise.

What is especially ungodly about the climate here is the INSTANT 15-20 degree drop in temperature shortly after dark. For example a 70 degree day QUICKLY becomes a 40 degree night. A 30 departure in temp is "normal," for this area.

With daytime highs in the low to mid 50s in the winter months does not leave too many degrees once the night begins, and this does not include the wind chill factor!

The summer months are completely the opposite: HOT & VERY HUMID.

There are basically 2 seasons here: Summer & Winter. October and March-April are transitional months.

The climate in this area is drastic, both seasonally & Read More

Schools - 3/30/2008
My family and I relocated from N.J. The schools are not what i expected. If your child is mainstream it is O.K. If you have gifted and talented child your child will be bored in school. I am supposed to be in the best school system in S.C. I do not think Read More

Pawleys/Litchfield- a great place to live! - 2/3/2007
Pawleys Island/Litchfield is the best place on the Grand Strand. It's devoid of all the ugly signage, amusement parks and all-you-can-eat calabash restaurants so typical to Myrtle Beach. We moved here from Old Town in Chicago and feel we found our slice of paradise. We bought a home for less than what ours sold for in Chicago and we live a block from the beach on a beautifully-treed half acre lot. Like many of our neighbors, we have a golf cart and even drive it into town to eat and do our errands. Our beach is quiet and peaceful. It's also big, wide and hard-packed (great for running and riding bikes). This is a seasonal vacation area but there's rowdy crowd. Pluses: well-located between Myrtle Beach and Charleston, good schools, friendly people, great restaurants, casual atmosphere, nice shopping, good place for tennis and golf, gorgeous old Live Oaks, scenic creeks, great fishing, Brookgreen Gardens, Huntington Beach State Park, good healthcare, mild winters, many opportunities to Read More
