Love it here and very busy - 7/10/2010

There is a great divide I agree but I live in Orange Beach and we are lower middle class and are quite happy. There are several things to do for families and with a population of only 5900 you can't expect major city entertainment all of the time. Yet we do have big name concerts in the area. There is obviously a shrinking middle class in Orange Beach -- there is the wealthy and the poor, and not very much in between. Individuals who expect to earn a living wage in this area are in for a big surprise -- you cannot exist here on the wages which are paid locally. On a positive note, it is a lovely sub-tropical area and the climate is very nice. Water sports and fishing abound, and represent the only saving grace for the area. It is a great place to visit, but you wouldn't want to live here![read more...]
