SperlingViews - West_Blocton, Alabama

West Blocton is a quiet little town and for the most part everyone there is friendly. It is pretty country. I grew up in West Blocton and have been back a few times in the past couple of years. To be honest, nothing there has grown or changed in 29 years. One good thing I saw was a new Middle school and improvements on the high school. But for jobs, shopping, things to do, there is almost nothing. People have to drive about an hour one way to find a decent paying job. Diversity doesnt exist there. Its sad to see that West Blocton is still stuck in i'm not sure what century. I love that little town but it still needs alot of improvements for the citizens quality of life. I'm just glad I was able to get out of there, move to another state and get a good education.[read more...]
