Canyon Breeze Elementary - 5/23/2010
My children have attended Canyon Breeze for the last couple of years. In that time a new principal has taken over. Bullying, swearing, and children running around seems to be the norm at this school. My children are in classes where the teachers struggle every day to try and teach. The students are so misbehaved that it is difficult for my children to learn. I have approached the teacher about the behavior problems, and she said that whenever a student is sent to the office, nothing is done about it. The teacher is the one who is asked about what strategies were used to solve the problem first. She stated it is easier to just try and deal with it, because there is little to no support. I will be taking my children out of the school this coming year. The teachers really love the children and try their best, but the administration is weak.[read more...] |

Avondale as a best place? - 5/17/2010
As an Avondale resident who doesn't sugarcoat anything, I'd like to weigh in.
The Avondale pluses that I see as a homeowner at the highest local level of property values are:
Lots of new infrastructure development
Great climate if you love the desert
Best of urban and rural lifestyle combined
Minuses:
Avondale residents pay the highest taxes of any Phoenix area. I can't tell where the money's going.
Lots of residents need to go or get off the pot. And I don't mean go.
Serious lack of decent amenities. Not one restaurant, shopping center or hotel that competes on the national level.[read more...] |

Avondale is GREAT!!! - 12/12/2007
I am a young married woman with a family. I love Avondale for so many reasons. There is everything I need nearby and I rarely have to venture out of my area. Shopping, food, recreation are all close by, not to mention it is constantly growing and has tons of growth in nearby cities. They are buiding a new mall a few miles down the road, and we are also close to two major freeways, and the Football stadium/Hockey Arena/Westgate. Not to mention the schools are good (rating wise). I can't think of a better place to live in the metro area.[read more...] |

Mass Transit - 3/8/2007
The valley is in serious need of mass transit. Currently a light rail is being built, but it is slated to only connect Phoenix to Tempe. Eventually it will connect more of the East Valley, but if you live in the North Phoenix, South Phoenix, or the West Valley prepare for long commutes.[read more...] |
