I will be retiring in Feb. of next year. I am married to a wonderful lady and have three dogs.I live in 30foot motorhome. Been looking for a cooler place to live that has water cause we love going out in our boat. Been looking at Grand Juction as a place to retire. Bullhead City is toooooo hot for us. We have been here for five years and the heat is getting to us. I would love to hear both good and bad about Grand Junction. We are not wine drinkers..we do not golf. Bullhead City Arizona is a great place to live and work as long as you like an active lifestyle. It is like being on vacation every weekend. Living here now for 6 years and working as a Realtor I have seen many people come and go. The community and mayor are just the greatest and the people in the community are very active with the children and summer activities. On a Friday night you can pop over to the casinos for Buffet then walk it off with a drink and a river walk. Wake up Saturday morning and have breakfast at Earls by the River then hop on your jet ski at the park and spend the day on the colorado river. I want to encourage everyone who reads this to give this area a chance. Many who have traveled to the Bullhead City / Laughlin area may have quite a different view of the area if they were to come back. Many recognizable retail stores and popular restaurants have opened up shop in the area of the past couple of years. It's ok here, if you can take the very hot summers. Cost of living is getting high, and the downside is not much shopping or dining opportunities.When we moved here, my husband's health was starting to fade. Now he is pretty much home bound and so that means I am too. No more trips to Vegas, which is 1 1/2 hous away, and that was what I looked forward to in the beginning. He cannot even go across the river to Laughlin now, so I wish we were in a bigger city now that his health has declined.I could make quick trips to the mall and not leave him alone very long.[read more...]

While checking the the climate for Bullhead City,az I see that you give it a comfort rating of 46 and across the river at Laughlin you have a comfort rating of 60???? how can that be? Air conditioning leakage from all the casinos?? The 46 seems about right for both sides.[read more...]

This town has changed from dusty trailer town into Desert Oasis almost overnight! Bullhead City is a hidden treasure! I’m sure a lot of people will be retiring here once the word gets out. So much new development going on it’s hard to keep up with. I can’t think of any other place that has more things to do than here in Bullhead City. Nice restaurants have been popping up all over, not to mention a brand new Sam’s Club, Home Depot, Lowe’s and a massive new hospital! It has everything and more, and it’s only an hour drive to Vegas, Lake Mede and the West Rim of the Grand Canyon with the new skywalk. Did I mention just a few hours to Southern California’s best places? This is a desert environment and it does get hot. Ironically this is when the town is really busy because water sports are very popular here. Built right on the Colorado river across from Laughlin Nevada (I call it little Vegas) and Lake Mohave. Lake Mohave is a 64 mile long crystal clear lake! New homes going up on the hills have views of the river, lake and casino lights! The night sky is crystal clear. Tons of new luxury homes and still good prices (for now). Summer Jet Skiing is perfect when the temperature is about 105 to 115. This is because the Colorado River is cold even in the summer! So the hot outdoor temp is exactly what you want out there and it feels great! So expect a lot of water sport tourism in the summer months and a lot “snow bird” tourism in the winter. Most of the year the weather is perfect, in the 70s and sunny. And yes the summer months are hot, that actually is a major attraction here. So forget about all that nonsense about it being too hot, because HOT is exactly why people come here. It feels cold on the river riding a Jet Ski once the temp drops below 100 degrees. Hot is good for water sports! If you haven’t been out this way in the last five years you owe it to yourself to check it out. Bullhead is a great place to live, vacation or retire. My mother lived in this town for years, and I decided to try it out. My" try" lasted a whole 4 months! There's got to be something in the water in this town! People are so bad! Teen pregnancy runs rampid, drug use is huge, and the traffic is hell (especially during winter months while the "snowbirds" are visiting. Did I forget the summer weather? 120F easy every day for months; you have no reason to leave your a/c during the day. It's miserable! Decent health care? HAHA! Wanna find it? Take a 100 mile or so roadtrip to Las Vegas! My brother was in an accident on his motorcycle there, and they had to airlift him to Vegas! My mother had some medical issues that stumped the medical community of BHC and she FINALLY got a Vegas doctor to diagnose and treat. Amazing! I think maybe the heat fries people's brains here.
