friendly people - 11/8/2009

I have lived in Oracle for 6 over months now, and have lived many places in the US. This is one of the most friendly small towns I have found. Good rental homes are hard to come by, but there are many for sale at a low price. There are many community activities and an acceptance of many kinds of people. It has it's small town politics and the usual southwest mix of ranchers, hispanics and, in this case, artists. The groovy people bought up all the land, and caused the taxes to skyrocket. Now 2nd and 3rd generation Sedonans must live in the nearest towns away from their beautiful area. the same situation exists in Oracle now. I heard an artist say they want to eliminate all the mobile homes. What hubris! When I first move here one of these beatiful people asked me why did I bother moving here if I wasn't an artist? Gee I don't know. I just don't know anymore [read more...]
