The cost of houses in Arvin is grossly over stated. The median home price is actually much lower than Bakersfield. The numbers are infact about exactly oposite after the past three years of appreciation. Unemployment in Arvin is also understated! There are two industries in Arvin. Agriculture and Agriculture!! Nearly 100% of the jobs are seasonal and or field work positions. $250,000 homes are often being purchased by families with 3 and even 4 incomes.
