Brawley, CA
In the middle - 11/4/2008

Brawley, California is a small farming community where everyone knows your name. It is located about 2 and a half hours from San Diego, less than an hour from Mexico and approximatly 1-2 hours from the famous Southern California Sand Dunes. It truly is in the middle but has not lost it's small town feel. The sun shines all year around making this small town a favorite of many snow birds in the winter time.[read more...]

Brawley, CA
Family oriented community, roots trace back a gene - 10/21/2008

Having lived in Imperial County all of my life, at one time Brawley seemed so far away, especially since I grew up in the City of El Centro. My mother was learning English and one of the schools in Brawley had an adult learning program. She had been in the states only a few years before finding herself facing divorce with two young children and not having any family nearby as they were all in Spain. Yes, my mother is Toledo, Spain, a suburb outside of Madrid, where she spent most of her time working up until she was in her mid-20s before coming to the US with my father who was in Spain fininshing up his degree in Latin American Studies. My wife is from Brawley, as well as her parents. Both of our children were born in Brawley. Although as a married couple we lived in El Centro for eleven years, we started calling Brawley "home" in 2003 when we made the move. While the Imperial Valley is located in a desert and yes it gets quite hot during the summer time, often reachiing 120f, overall the quality of life, despite the heat is one thing that I wouldn't trade living in Brawley or the Imperial Valley for anyday. San Diego, Palm Springs and other metropolitan areas are 90-120 miles away and make for great get-aways but our home and hearts are in Imperial County. [read more...]

Brawley is Great - 10/4/2006

We are looking for places to live in California and I used the website to research areas of interest. After looking in LA, Orange County and San Deigo, there is no way we could afford to move to those areas. Luckily, we were able to find Brawley. Nice little town, access to all the areas that we want to visit, without paying the hefty price to live there. I would recommend this area to anyone that is looking to live in California; have access to the most desireable locations and not have to shell out a ton of money.[read more...]

nice place to raise kids when they are young. But they need to move away to experience life when to get out of high school. Great life for the kids. if you're an active parent. And it's nice to have a warm winter when there is so many cold places.[read more...]
