Where to go? Hate to move, but housing is just to - 4/28/2007

Thinking of moving to the SouthEast. Not interested in any real snow! Florida is too hot and humid and buggy and hurricane-prone (and old...). So many other areas seem to be sort of "bubba" and/or "Culture-Free" zones. No theater or museums or restaurants. Or airports! We are so spoiled by SD weather - that is almost our top concern. Anybody have any ideas where to look?[read more...]

Encinitas, CA -- north coastal, San Diego County - 1/14/2007

Encinitas, long a southern california haven for surfers, yoga practitioners, and musicians, still is. With its beautiful weather and increasing welter of diverse residents, excellent restaurants, nearby shopping, and ready access to I-5, the major north-south California highway, it's an increasingly attractive place to work, live, or visit.[read more...]

Life In Encinitas - 7/21/2006

Encinitas is right on the coast in northern San Diego County, and really is a beautiful place to live. In recent years, however the cost of homes has skyrocketed out of reach for many people. I'm trying to downsize, and I don't think I will be able to stay in this area.[read more...]

Expensive but nice - 6/21/2006

The median price of a single family home has to be about $800K now. The good news is that the schools are great and being next to the Pacific is dynamite. The beaches are wonderful, with some scenic cliffs, great parks, and enough local shopping. Very little crime. The down side besides hosuing costs is that most jobs are at least 15 miles south on Highway 5. A tough commute. It is getting more and more crowded. People want to live in nice places.[read more...]

Contrary to media reports California is very affor - 5/11/2006

The mainstream media distorts the truth so often I've come to rely on reputable blogs and news outlets. The distorted media wants everyone to believe that they must have a new home and two new cars along with name brand socks. If you're not brainwashed by the media and its advertising you can live here like millions of others.[read more...]

Encinitas - 9/16/2005

I moved to this area from Vista because of the schools & I'm glad I did! My son has received an excellent education in the local elementary school & will attend jr high next year. The parents are really involved in the schools & it feels like a community. Even though Encintas is in a very populated area, I feel like it is more like a small town. Nearly every time I go to the grocery or the local Target, I run into someone that I know.[read more...]
