small plane noise - 12/6/2009
I live in Newark (south-east side of San Francisco Bay), and there is a lot of small plane noise. All day long, especially on the weekends, small private planes are buzzing above Newark.
Newark used to be a quiet town, but within few years, the airspace
above it has became the training ground for flight schools and private
pilots.
If you don't mind the plane noise, Newark is a great place to raise a family.[read more...] |

NEWARK SMALL TOWN SLUM - 5/18/2007
Do you hear the giant sucking sound? That's the sound of businesses moving into Fremont. As a Newark employee for 20 years I can say that this has to be the worst run city I have ever seen. Anybody ever hear of economic developement? Newark was at its pinnacle in the early 90's, ever since then it has been down hill. The city that boasted a great budget surplus, is now almost bankrupt. City employees have been leaving like rats off a sinking ship. Why? How about payed benefits for one. Newark doesn't. With a city council who have been reelected over and over for 20+ years, no wonder they think it is still 1990. The city balances its budget on the backs of the employees, while boasting the highest salaries in the Bay Area for its executive staff. . Want diversity? You got it. Newark has more Mexican dive eateries than you can shake a Burka at. Try finding a good restaurant, hope you like curry. Newark is a 3rd world nation. All the affluent smart people send their kids to the local private school because Newark's public schools are in the toilet. Why did some of us stay with the city? I guess we waited too long to get out. Live in Newark? I don't think so![read more...] |

Newark is the best place I've ever lived - 3/2/2007
Newark is a small community. I live very close to the Dumbarton Bridge which connects between Newark and Menlo Park. Menlo Park is so nice. A little bit farther is Palo Alto.
For commuters who work in Palo Alto or Menlo Park, the drive is fairly easy.
On the weekends, there is not much traffic. And if you need parking, it would be fairly easy.
In my neighborhood, we have a bird preserve so it is typical to see hawks, crows, sparrows and cranes.
