Orinda is an extremely safe, quiet, bucolic place to live. The schools are incredible, parent participation is maximal. It's close to everything and yet has a feeling of being far away from the congestion. BART to San Francisco in a few stops. Being ranked the number one public high school system in California says little for this small rural upscale community. With a high percentage of college graduates with advanced or graduate degrees, Orinda offers a very small town atmosphere along with a strong feeling of communal pride. Exclusive neighborhoods and country clubs abound this scenic town nestled into the wilderness of the east side of the Oakland hills. Private golf and tennis clubs, a minimal amount of usable vacant land, very low crime and an excellent school system keep home prices in Orinda on an average of well into the million mark.
