quiet little community in the heart of the central - 8/8/2009

Coming home from work is like going on vacation. I cross the river into a larger city, Modesto,CA., to work daily. The hustle and bustle, rude drivers, etc., in Modesto, makes me appreciate my little town where we stop to let people back out of their parking place just to be NICE. We are 85 miles west of San Francisco, and 80 miles south of Sacramento. The fresh fruits and vegetables are unbelievable.[read more...]

You'd LOVE this town if you want small-town Americ - 2/29/2008

Ripon, known as the almond capital of the world, is a wonderful small, safe town to raise your kids in. The crime level is extremely low, the schools are good, the weather is terrific and the location can't be beat! We are half way between Yosemite and the ocean. When the almond blossoms are in bloom in mid-February it is stunning! (not to mention our wonderful Almond Blossom Festival) It's a town where everyone smiles and says "hello" still. Getting involved is easy and a positive experience. We have a brand new library, new veteran's museum, and are always working on ways to improve this community. My family moved here in 1993 and we absolutely love it.[read more...]

Great City - 12/21/2006

Ripon is one of the few California cities left with that "Mayberry" feel still alive and well. The city has a great little downtown. The people are wonderful, the schools are top-notch, and it is a great place to raise your kids. Up side: close to the ocean, mountains, Bay Area, Sacramento, shopping in Modesto, and it is a very clean city. On the down side: traffic on hwy 99 is insane, the quality of air is horrible, allergies are brutal, and the cost of living is crazy. Overall Ripon is awesome.[read more...]
