Great family living near Pacific Ocean - 9/26/2010

San Juan Capistrano has managed to retain it's small town charm, it's history & it's equestrian heritage - no small feat for a town in California with nearby Pacific Ocean access. A great & safe place to live; many wonderful schools both public & private are here. The city maintains miles of scenic biking & hiking paths. The downtown which centers around the mission is charming, has some wonderful shops & restaurants. Besides the mission, the centerpiece of the town is the train station which brings hundreds of visitors daily to explore the area centering around the quaint Los Rios historic district. San Juan Capistrano is surrounded by lovely hills which are for the most part undeveloped (per city master plan) so that there is an undisturbed quality to the ridgeline. San Juan Capistrano has a rich & full cultural offering ranging from theater to concert, to 4th of July fireworks. It is easy to get almost anywhere you want to go from SJC without getting on the freeway - an amazing treasure to have for a southern California town- uncrowded surface streets that go to nearby towns, attractions and shopping. Nearby is the city of Dana Point on which there is a marina, boat launch ramp, the Pacific Ocean, transportation to Catalina Island, many shops & restaurants plus first class hotel (and bargains too). A drive down Pacific Coast Highway is a not to be missed pleasure.[read more...]

Lovely town blends old & new - 5/20/2007

We moved here from Florida four years ago and love it. We are two miles from the beach and marina and the weather almost never gets over 85 or below 50. Nearby Laguna Beach, Dana Point and San Clemente have great restaurants. The city feels like going back to California 100 years ago. Almost perfect![read more...]

A Wonderful Temperate Climate.... - 2/26/2007

Here in Capistrano, the weather is very comfortable. Year round the temperature is very "livable"--seldom tooooo hot or few frost nites. Being on the coast, we get the wonderful sea breezes. It has long been a good area for agriculture--tho ther isn't much left in the area. We do still have an occasional farmers market and the locally grown produce is wodnerful![read more...]
