No vegan/lowwaste places to shop at - 4/27/2019
I love how it's calm but I hate how it's overpopulated and not very environmentally friendly, there is so much fast food restaurants and not really any vegan or vegetarian restaurants (There is even 8 taco trucks in one street(LanderRD) and I'm pretty sure 23 taco trucks in total Read More

Turlock-Great place to live! - 4/7/2018
I have lived here for 35 years. I love this town. It is just the right size. Shopping is better here than in larger towns like Modesto. Traffic is heavy at tines, but better than larger cities. Good schools and lots of churches to choose from. Read More

If your not Christian, don't live here. - 2/16/2014
Almost every time my husband and I go out to eat here, tables around us are always praying. Everything in this town seems to revolve around your Christian faith. When you go to church, when you started believing in god, what god has done for you... Blah blah blah. Turlock is not for the atheist. Read More

Not the town it used to be - 7/31/2013
I grew up in Turlock and still visit often since all of my extended family still live in the area. Since the other reviews are 4+ years old (a time when Turlock was flying high pre-economy crash) I thought I'd add my observations.

Turlock has gone downhill greatly even in the past few years. The bad economy hit is severely, especially with housing. I remember in 2007 seeing tiny new homes selling for $500k and I knew right away a crash was inevitable. The median income is $49,000 so there is no way home prices like that could be sustained and of course now we can look back as see they couldn't be. As a result there is a very depressed vibe in the town. Lots of men riding bikes not for exercise but for transportation. For the first time I felt unsafe going anywhere south of Raley's in Turlock. I saw people loitering outside of Walgreens (drug deals) and tons of people jay walking (another symptom of reduced police force). The schools are badly-rated and Read More

Quality of Life in Turlock CA 2009 - 10/23/2009
We've lived in the area of Modesto/Turlock for 20+ years. Turlock is an agriculture town with a population about 70,000 up from 55,000 in 2000. West side of town is new growth with schools, shopping and eating establishments. College in town is California State University Stanislaus. Turlock is a Tree City for about 17 years. Senior living is treated with respect. Turlock Community Theatre hosts talent from a wide range of choice. It is not uncommon to venture onto country roads and experience driving Read More

Born and raised - 11/26/2008
I was born and raised in Turlock, along with the majority of my extended family. Most still live here. Growing up, it seemed like a good place to raise children and live. There is a four-year university (CSU Stanislaus) that is gorgeous and a nice big park with a lake (Donnelly Park) that has about a mile radius for running/walking. It is a family community that has grown tremendously since I was little, but it's still a nice place to live. A lot of people live here and commute to the bay area (70+ miles) because it's cheaper here. I moved away four years ago and would probably move back if the opportunity allowed. Mostly because my family is there, but it is a decent Read More
