ABSOLUTLY the worse place on earth !! - 8/9/2009

craig is a small town that gets 50 below in the winter with 5 feet of snow on the flat, and 40 feet drifted. there is no real post office and jobs all pay about minimum wage or less. the people are rude, and the schools are terrible (the high school has a 4% graduation rate, and a 99% pregnancy rate) please don't move here as those of us who love it here, er - no i mean hate it here, wouldn't want you to be misreable by making the town any bigger. can you imagine a town with no rush hour, only a rush minute, how boring is that ? and hardly any crime, no excitement at all. no, you need to look at denver instead, now theres a town.[read more...]

Good Place to Raise a Family - 4/1/2009

If you are looking for a little town where you can feel safe raising a family, Craig is it. With about 11000 people, Craig is a place where you can go to the store and run into friends and chat. You feel like you know everyone. There is a mall, Walmart, Kmart, Murdochs, and numerous fast food and local restaurants. There is also a twin cinema and a pool facility that has both a lap and wave pool and plenty of recreation. The city has great schools, great people and great location.[read more...]

Craig Colorado Tidbits - 6/26/2008

Craig is the county seat of Moffat County, located in Northwestern Colorado. The population is about 10,000 or so. There area is predominantly a ranching and mining area. Steamboat Springs is located 47 miles east, and many of the working class folks have moved out of there due to high costs and to Craig. The winters are cold and snowy, summers warm, spring is brief. Gardening is tough due to late frosts and cool nights. There is a power plant and coal mines in the area. Hunting is a big draw in the fall. There is some oil and gas exploration in the area but that is limited due to political and environmental obstacles. There are several motels in the area that are fairly old and poorly maintained. There are 3 "chain" motels in town. In the winter ground transportation can be very limited. There is an airport in Hayden, east of town that has limited commercial flights. Rentals of houses and apartments are very limited, and fairly high given the population. The costs of purchasing homes has sky rocketed as people have sold and and moved from Steamboat Springs. There are 2 small medical clinics in town as well as a small medical hospital and a small VA Telehealth Outreach Clinic. Groundbreaking has begun on a new hospital. There are is a Ford, Dodge, and Chevrolet/Jeep dealership in town.[read more...]
