Peaceful Life Style - 1/16/2012

I retired to Brooksville 5 years ago and I love it. It is clean, peaceful and friendly. I have joined several organizations and made many interesting and helpful friends. It reminds me of my home town in Michigan minus the snow, cold and taxes. It's close to the Tampa Bay area if I want to attend cultural or sports events. Nice Town, but Low Wages - 10/2/2006

Brooksville is a quaint, quiet, beautiful community convenient to beaches, shopping, and all the "main attractions" in the Bay area. Small towns like this are disappearing all across Florida in the name "progress" (an illusion if you ask me). Thus far, the city is doing a great job of preserving historical sites and maintaining small town charm despite the reality that development is knocking at the door. Hopefully, Brooksville will maintain it's strong sense of community and the southern hospitality that characterizes it. Otherwise, it will find itself just another "neighborhood" of sprawling Spring Hill, complete with tire saloons, strip malls, and the crime, pollution, and congestion that accompany "progress".[read more...]
