Whilst living in Florida is great becuase of the warm weather, the downside has also been the weather i.e., hurricanes. Ergo the insurance costs are high. The property taxes (esp. given the type of education given at public schools) are high. Add the housing boom artificially inflating house prices then you come up with a mix of in-affordability.
Hallandale Beach itself is so-so, with potential to improve given wise-spending and careful attention to detail. The title of beach is almost ironic, given the current erosion levels.
