The City of Broken Dreams... - 6/2/2019
Sigh...Hollywood, Florida.

The city where dreams are broken. Hence the name of the 'mean street' Hollywood Boulevard of Broken Dreams. I say 'broken dreams' not just because of the Green Day song, but because living down here is NOT easy. And it's HARDLY the paradise other fans (I.E. snowbirds) claim it is. I began pursuing a career in writing while I was down here, starting in my early to mid-20's. But because people are essentially stupid, crazy, selfish 'cattle', my writing career ended up getting set back by roughly 5 years. I have virtually NO FRIENDS down here, save for one young woman whom I now hardly ever see. Oh, and my Mom of course. There are trees down here, but virtually NO mountains or actual forests to speak of. The only place worse than this would have to be Philadelphia, PA. More on this place Read More

Great place to live, work, play, & INVEST!! - 2/25/2018
Hollywood has and is continuosly changing and growing since most of the reviews on this site, most of the reviews are many years old! Hollywood is BOOMING!! Great place to live, vacation too, work, play, as well as a great place to invest in real estate - both residential and commercial properties have significantly increased in value over that time frame with a lot more to go! The city has made significant infrastructure strides and is attracting world-class corporations and therefore job creation!! I LOVE IT Read More

Hollywood is too crowded - 6/21/2017
The city of Hollywood is too crowded.
A lot of Spanish speakers who do not conform to city coding.
Do not speak English. Do not integrate to US qualities.
Trucks and car repairs on home sites.
After hurricane Andrew, the people from Dade county moved to Broward.
People are not friendly. Driving is too unsafe.
Your right to life and happiness is not respected.
Too many tourists that just stayed...

No Police in Hollywood - 9/22/2015
The City of Hollywood Police Department appears to be anticitizen. Complaints of crime are swept under the rug and eventually "disappear" from the system. Meanwhile, officers are busy covering for each others mistakes. The head of Internal Affairs clearly told me citizens words are meaningless to him, "It is his own people that he believes." Aren't the police PUBLIC Read More

Hollywood Really? - 2/11/2013
If you don't mind high crime, people driving like crazy, expensive rent or morgage, poor public transportation, houses wayyyyy too close to each other, high taxes and high unemployment, well then, move here, all the above is going to be waiting for you. I strongly suggest you to think twice before moving here. Best luck to Read More

I Liked living In Hollywood - 3/5/2012
I enjoyed living here , although there were some negatives and positives. Negatives were, Rents are rediculously HIGH,, Not many jobs at all most of Hollywood is residential , Not too many options when it comes to employment, Real Estate was the best area to work in for awhile , But that buble bursted and is having a hard time to recover, In stores like Sedanos and Bravo expect to be ignored if you are not hispanic, I am usually a very friendly but if the cashier doesn't even look in your direction while ringing you up, I tell them , arent you suppose to greet your customers. Traffic to Miami Is crazy, The roads are ok can get a little confusing sometime when a road ends and you need to find it again, But not too bad cause they usually just go north South east and west unlike New england. Positives were the beach, the parks (many have miniture water parks in them) The Church Segadores de Vida , at the moment located corner of Taft and 441. Preaching is in spanish, but they have head Read More

10 Minutes from everything - 12/6/2010
In 10 minutes, I can be in downtown Fort Lauderdale and ready to see a top-notch Broadway touring company. In 10 minutes, I can be sitting under the stars listening to big band jazz at an ocean front amphitheater. Add 10 more minutes, and I can be at the ballet or the symphony or any number of galleries.

Not into the arts? How about a world-class beach, windsurfing or sailing in 10 minutes? Or deep in a cypress-lined stream and kayaking in 10 minutes? It's all Read More
