SperlingViews - Lantana, Florida

I lived in Lantana Back in 2005. I enjoyed living in my small effiency apartment. I moved to Lantana from Boynton Beach, wich is a very expensive town, 5 miles away form Lantana. And I enjoyed Lantana more than any other place in Palm Beach County. The beach breaks nicely, small waves but somedays with a good swell you could see waves as hig as of 3-4 feet. I loved Jogging to the beach to see the sunrise and the sunset. Those memory will always be intact in my head. I also lived here with my Fiancee (R.I.P) in our tiny apartment. I recommend Lantana for a person that has some saving or if is retired and has a good pension. South Florida's Salary won't cover the cost of living. Other than that, Lantana is a good town to live in. Hey don't forget to buy fried chicken on the Publix next to the Gamestop On Lantana Rd.[read more...]

If you enjoy warm weather this is the place. I have been here (south fla) for 14 years now and comming from Chicago, I love it...I would rather live here and visit the cold, than the opposite. Sure we had 3 hurricanes in the last 3 years, but I'm not leaving. It was a very unpleasant time being without electric, but my family and our neighborhood came together and enjoyed it. We had barbacues every night. Summer is hot, about 2 months out of the year it gets to be too much but other than that. I think it is great. 1/2 of Lantana is located on Hypoluxo Island, a tiny isle in the Intercoastal filled with McMansions, a part-time clientele, and very aloof rude individuals. The other half is poor to working hard middle class and retirees. A great library! Three strip malls (one with several excellent ethnic restaurants, a good butcher, a nice consignment store and a French bakery) and the other are much larger -- WinnDixie and K-Mart anchor one, Publix and CVS Pharmacy the other. Palm Beach County really has fabulous weather all year long. Don't let the occasional hurricane be a bad thing. In the 16 years I've been living here, those 2 years were really the most active.[read more...]
