Orange Park Florida Area - 12/15/2011

My review would be this High crime rate that we did Not realize while we lived there, and also which I am shocked! Not staying after lease is up, Although some people are nice and friendly but not all am ommitting a few things so I am not harassed in any way, not the best area, try fleming island , st augustine, southside jacksonville or else pontte vedra area. Stay away from this area. But had to feel that it was shared because to warn others, not to be critical only to warn.[read more...]

A Great Place to Live - tucked away yet near the b - 11/22/2009

We live on Fleming Island, zip 32003, in the Orange Park area of Clay County. Fleming Island's two Master Planned Communities, Eagle Harbor and Fleming Island Plantation, have given much to this area. We have some of the top schools in Florida - Fleming Island High is ranked #13 this year and Fleming Island Elementary has been as high as #4 in past years. We have shopping and restaurants nearby, schools in our neighborhoods, and miles of sidewalks for jogging, biking and walking. We are surrounded by water, so there are plenty of places to store and launch your boat. Eagle Harbor has one of the best tennis programs in the state, and Clay County Soccer Club is excellent. We are tucked away on this little island, yet near everything the big city has to offer. We moved back here from Orlando because we really like the quality of life in the Jacksonville area, plus we like the climate better. We have enough 'cold' weather to actually be able to have a fire in the fireplace and not turn on the air conditioning :) Fleming Island was named an official postal town by the US Post Office in 2007. We are no longer 'Orange Park FL' but Fleming Island FL 32003. Check us out, it's a great place to live.[read more...]

Orange Park is Horrible - 7/22/2009

I lived there for a year as a college student. People like drama there and love spreading gossip. People are unfriendly, rude, and quite uneducated. Traffic is horrible. Theres absolutely no culture. Very little restaurants that aren't chain/franchise restaurants. Theres almost nothing good to eat. Don't move here.[read more...]

Living in Orange Park Florida - 5/18/2009

Orange Park still provides a small town feeling while providing several alternatives to shopping, eateries and easy access to major highways. Plus NASJAX is moments away for our military neighbors and the beaches are just a twenty minute drive via the 9A extension. When you want to visit historic St. Augustine, it's a nice forty-five minute drive. Jacksonville International Airport is thirty minutes away! There are plenty of neighborhoods that offer different types of lifestyles and amenities. Eagle Harbor, Fleming Island Plantation, Oakleaf Plantation and Orange Park Country Club to name a few. You typically get a little more house for your money in Orange Park, compared to Mandarin, Southside or the Beaches. Single family homes, Duplexes, townhomes and condominiums -surely you'll find something that fits your needs and wants. If you are a boater, there are plenty of options for launching, storage and waterways to choose from. Enjoy the fabulous St. Johns River, Doctors Lake, Cedar River and others. Lacking culture, transient, and increasing crime.. - 6/7/2008

I moved here 2 years ago for a job in education, and have wanted to leave since the first month! If the economy weren't so bad, I'd be out of here yesterday, but I am lucky to have a job. There are only whites, blacks, and rednecks as far as culture goes, with just a handful of others thrown into the mix due to the heavy military presence here. Gang activity is on the rise at a rapid pace, even in the so-called "prestigious" new contained communities. Don't be fooled! People are not very friendly, just like the other posting said, and hard to get to know your neighbors, if they're worth knowing at all! Rudeness and lack of manners are rampant, and Blanding Blvd. is a nightmare if you need something off that road! The area has grown quite fast, but infrastructure has not kept up at all. The weather is very lovely, however, except for June-August which are brutally hot. There is actually not a bad humidity level most of the time, and usually a great breeze, even in the dead of summer. Cost of living is good overall, but there are few choices for food that aren't "fast" or "chain," and nothing to do in the evening. Orange Park Mall is also very dangerous. So unless you are a VERY happily married couple who don't need that many friends or to go out much, AND you can afford private school or home-schooling for your kids, DON'T MOVE HERE!!! You'll regret it![read more...]

Think before you act - 11/24/2007

Let me be succinct: lived here 11+ years now; taxes on home has more than tripled; main road (Blanding Blvd) is constantly crowded and backed up; property prices have fallen yet taxes continue to increase; schools are vastly overcrowded; crime is up by double digits; summer weather is painfully hot and humid; friendliness/neighborly factor has dropped so low its off the scale. In short - save yourselves a stint in hell and avoid the area - Im getting out as soon as humanly possible.[read more...]

I wouldn't raise a family in OP North! - 7/19/2006

Stick to Orange Park South. The Fleming Island and Doctors Inlet areas. Stay away from the Argyle Boulevard area all together and don't move anywhere near Blanding Boulevard. Traffic is HORRIBLE. Oakleaf Plantation is supposed to be so nice until you see the gang members walking down your street. Gang members have been coming into Orange Park to recruit from the Westside of Jacksonville which is just north of Orange Park. Traffic is HORRIBLE. Have you considered Julington Creek? It's much much nicer. The zip code is 32259. The schools are safer, the town takes care of the roads better, the people are better educated and less likely to stare you down for looking at them the wrong way like in Orange Park. Oh and steer clear of the Orange Park Mall! UNSAFE!! Stick to The Avenues down Phillips Highway closer to Julington Creek. I've lived in both places and have noticed that people move to Orange Park and are soarly dissapointed after they realize who else lives there. You should never be fooled by lower housing prices. There is usually a reason for lower prices in a town. OP is less expensive than JCP for a reason. You couldn't pay me to raise my kids in OP![read more...]
