Things not as they seem - 11/13/2021
I moved here and wish I had known, the crime is high around shopping areas. Get on any crime map and it compares to bad areas in Tampa. Look for yourself! Housing building out of control and when the bubble bursts, not going to be pretty! Population Estimate, 2013 - 10/28/2014
Your 2013 estimate of 43,559 is way low. Wesley Chapel grew from under 6,000 people in the 2000 U.S. Census to 44,092 in the 2010 census -- an astounding 670% growth during the decade. Wesley Chapel is a Census Designated Place (CDP) with no town government of its own. Police, school system, etc. are all part of Pasco County Government. Because of this, there is no official population estimate for Wesley Chapel in the US Census 2013 population estimates for Florida shown on other websites, even with many hundreds of smaller towns listed. Wesley Chapel is a diverse community. Neighborhoods such as Meadow Pointe, Northwood, The Lakes and Seven Oaks are on the southern end and are filled with transplants from the Northeast (mostly NYC area),Midwest(a lot of Ohio folks) and California. There are a fair amount of middle class, professional minorities (Hispanic and African American). The southern part of Wesley Chapel is more a part of New Tampa and boasts a beautiful, sophisticated new shopping mall, The Shoppes at Wiregrass and many new and interesting restaurants. The northern part is rural and still consists of native Floridians from a lower middle class background who still fly the confederate flag on the back of their pick-up trucks. W.C. is only 25 minutes up I-275 from downtown Tampa. Planned communities mentioned above offer a country club lifestyle with swim clubs, walking trails, tennis courts etc. Great for kids...but if you're used to the fast pace and artistic culture up north, it takes some getting used Read More
