Nice small town - 8/23/2009
Hinesville is a nice small town. The grocery stores are within a 15 to 30 minute walk of where I live. The local VFW is 1.3 miles from my house (stumbling distance lol). In my neighborhood I have not seen or heard of any crime, violent or other wise. The neighborhood is made up of military families and military retirees. Great neighbors who look out for you. It has a great variety of oriental restaurants and also has a few diners that have decent food. Just down home cooking at a reasonable price. In the summer you work in your yard and garden in the morning and spend the afternoon sitting on your porch drinking iced tea.[read more...] |

Great For Rednecks - 10/29/2007
This is a great place if your main intersts are hunting and fishing. If not, there isn't much to do and it's 45 minutes from Savanah. Hinesville itself has little more than a Super Wal-Mart and a few chain restaurants. It has a low cost of living for good reason, few people want to live there. The summers are oppresively hot. Not the safest of places, even with Fort Stewart nearby. No shortage of pawn shops though.[read more...] |

Because this is a military town with all the single soldiers, there is a great deal to do as far as bars and clubs go, but a definite lack of family oriented activities exists without going onto Fort Stewart. Shopping is okay, with the obligatory Wal-Mart Supercenter within 10 minutes of everywhere in town, but the best stores and sight seeing is in Savannah, about 45 minutes away.[read more...] |
