CUMBERLAND SOUTH SUBDIVISION - 12/1/2010
I had a home built here in 2008, and I absolutely love the neighborhood, because it is quiet. I mean there are children there, but you really don't see them until the summer time, and that is probably because of school and all. There are mostly families that live in my neighborhood and everyone watches out for each other. We don't really see much of each other it seems until the weather breaks, but we are there.
Our neighborhood is surrounded by plenty of shopping malls, grocery stores, parks for the children to play in, and bike trails.
Public Transportation isn't plentiful as of now due to the recent construction of new homes and subdiviions within the last 7 to 10 years, but it is slowly but surely coming. However you can drive to the Metra train and travel just about all over Illinois or just drive if you prefer.
Depending on what you want to do, there is always something going on in the city of Chicago, especially during the summer. [read more...] |

so far so good! - 6/4/2008
We have been living here in Joliet for about 2 months now and there is not much that I can complain about. There are a lot of diverse people here and there are so many things to do since we are not located that far from Chicago. Joliet is like a little big city outside of a huge huge city. We get the perks of a lower cost of living and a back yard along with the Chicago night life, boutiques, t.v studios (Ophra) and lots more. There are so many little towns all around with little unique shops and every other place is hiring. I love it here so far.[read more...] |

transportation - 7/21/2006
You NEVER know what to expect in this town! Located right between highways I80 and I55, you can end up sitting in traffic doing 3 mph on a sunday afternoon, or catch the highway all freed up in rush hour- either direction. If you want to go downtown Chicago, best bet is to take the Metra because chances are the commute is going to be around an hour to even get there, and THEN pay to park, where as you can just jump on the metra in downtown joliet. Newcomers will most likely get thrown off by the one-way streets in downtown joliet, as I did, but the shops and such remind you of a small town Chicago! The only public transportation is in downtown Joliet, not around the outside/west side, which is a bummer. Best bet is to drive though, cuz yah cant walk anywhere in this town.[read more...] |
