Taxes are a killer - 1/30/2010
Although Ottawa is a very nice place to live, living here is becoming rediculous...as taxes go. I bought a house less then four years ago and my taxed went from approaximately $1300.00 to $4020.00. That is over a 300% tax raise. I feel as if the city/State is trying to get ride of the middle class. I am seriously contiplating moving. Enough is enough.[read more...] |

The propetry taxes on the south side of the river are 10-10 times higher thatn the North. Therre is no retail business to produce tax dollars and it more costly to live on that side. It is the most desirable areas to live though.[read more...] |

You get what you see. - 11/25/2007
I moved to Ottawa 6 months ago, I like it. Sure Ottawa is not full of culture and recreational things to do, but who moves to Ottawa for that????? Its geographical location to Chicago is what sold me. Moving from Orland Park I have found the relaxed, laid back lifestyle of Ottawa comforting. Working in Joliet I have a traffic free commute of 35 minutes. On the weekends I can be downtown Chicago in an hour. Affordable housing, nice people(big drinkers), a classic river city downtown, I am staying for a while :)[read more...] |
