Great People - Great Community - Great Houses - I - 7/13/2011
This city has had it's problems, as many of the Whiners & Moaners making comments here have written. So What! There are probably a thousand cities in the USA today with similar economic and infrastructure problems. People looking for problems will always find them. I am a new arrival in Anderson, but my perspective is based on extensive world and U.S. travel. Anderson is a community where the majority of the people are pleasant. They do not feel their community is failing, and are working to make a better life for them, their families and community. Anderson has many real estate bargains, which is why I moved here. I am not a speculator. I am buying and holding property long term in Anderson, because I know a great community with potential to improve when I see one. That is Anderson. I will base my operations here for the next five years, then return to Hawaii or overseas where I prefer to live, but Anderson will help pay for my retirement, NO WORRIES there.. I love this place :) Read More

Very inexpensive - 6/1/2011
Anderson lost thousands of jobs from the auto industry which resulted in many vacant houses. Combine that with the housing bubble popping and the result is very inexpensive Read More

Anderson has to be the worst place i have ever li - 10/26/2010
Crime is out of control... apathy has set in with the police department.. for a 911 call ...I had to call mutiple times on several incidents. When I contacted Mayor Ockomon... he put his assistant on the case but the 911 operator lost the calls I made. I can see the smoke from the meth lab daily... police know and do nothing about it.. The city kept a doctor (Dr. Foley, google him) in business by just ignoring the fact that he was wrote up to a thousand prescriptions a WEEK.. only when mutiple people died from overdoses did they finally step in... and the doctors office was withing walking distance to the police station. Anderson needs to have the attorney general investigate them... the mentality is below normal.. .I look at most of the people as mutants.. it has to be the only explanation for the egregious behavior even at city hall..... I have lived here five years and can't wait until the ecomony gets just a litte better so I can get out... I called the victims advocate for Read More

Anderson is Growing - 3/19/2007
Sometimes, the best places to live are the places that everyone else is afraid of. Anderson is growing, and it's housing has improved greatly with investors "cleaning" up the homes. The city is doing a lot to bring in job growth, and businesses, but the most important part is, people don't really know how much improvements have been made in the last few years. It's definitely a good kept secret place, and in the next 10 years, you will be glad to have said you weren't afraid to invest in it's glory Read More

Stay away from Anderson, I am dead serious. - 9/21/2006
This city died many years ago. All that's left are crumbling streets, dilapidated housing and dozens of churches and liquor stores. Being a GM town, Anderson's fate was sealed 25-30 years ago when the oil crisis hit. The city's largest (former) employer, Delco Remy, has been dissolved and exists only in memory. If you're not in the automotive field, you still won't make much money since practically everyone around you is either making minimum wage or is unemployed. See the cost of living index, and the negative population growth? There's a good reason why those numbers are as grim as they are; no one wants to live here and out of those that still do, are either in the process of moving away or they're planning on Read More
