Please advise on Quad Cities area - 6/15/2007
We are thinking of moving to the area (Iowa). I am an NC native, although we feel the need to move out due to huge influx of newcomers in this area from the northeast affecting quality of life, etc. I have always liked the Midwestern way of life, nice people, etc and wanted to know what it is like from someone who actually lives there. We have children and are looking for a family oriented place with affordable housing and nice folks! Any information would be appreciated.[read more...] |

Great place to raise kids - 5/6/2007
We moved to Bettendorf when our son was in elementary school based on favorable comments about the schools from several friends in similar stages in their lives. We were very happy with the schools. PVHS had more National Merit Finalists than all the other Quad City schools combined last year.[read more...] |

nice town - 1/8/2007
I recently moved back after living here a few years ago. All 4 of the Quad Cities have their strengths but I chose Bettendorf. It has very nice neighborhoods, roads are better, I feel the city actually thinks about the good of its people a little more, and the people here are polite and open minded. Good schools are very close (U of I is an hour) and St. Ambrose and WIU are here as well. Chicago is easily accessible but the area has many restaurants (very good locally owned as well). Housing: lots of new construction and afforable middle class options too. Healthcare: very good hospitals here as well as University of Iowa Health Systems and their physicians. Crime: very little, Rock Island and Davenport have more in general. Diversity: Multiple ethnicities, tolerance is good here I think due to medical/engineering population and educational institutions here. Recreation: minor league hockey, arena football, baseball, good comedy club, and lots of summer festivals.[read more...] |
