Creston in very run down and definatly has a low c - 10/11/2010

I moved here 4 years ago and have regretted it since, kids out of control lot of petty crime and drug and alcohol abuse, there are more bars in creston and can get beer whild getting a haircut. The people are a bout 20 years behond the rest of the country and most of the town and homes are very run down and delapitaed and I am embarraseed every time I have family in town .Property taxes are very high and go up every year and the city services are poor at best ,(they would rather spend money on fireworks that have police to patrol the street at night) I am trying to sell me home and get out asap[read more...]

Old fashioned small town feel. - 7/27/2006

Creston is your old fashioned small town, the old men don't miss a day catching up on the going's on when they're out for coffee at 5:00 am at the sale barn daily. The town puts on a big show for the 4th of July, starting with a parade full of tractors, boy scouts, horses, and local politicians. Then you move to the two-bit carnival at the city park with hokey games and small rides, get your belly full of cotton candy and funnel cakes. Then there's the local talant show with all the kids doing their best. moving on to a pretty decent display of fireworks over the lake presented by the local fire department. The Christmas season is full of plays and concerts from the local churches," there are a lot of them." It's always great when your child can be part of it. There's parades and parties, and the old railroad depot has caroling and old fashioned train displays(working.) You don't take a trek through the grocery store without meeting a friend or aquaintance. The kid's run in packs on bicycle to the pool and park. Everyone waves to you from their vehicle even though you don't know them.[read more...]
