Low Crime, But... - 3/18/2010
...At what cost? If you drive through Lenexa late at night, unless you are driving a newer vehicle, you are pretty likely to be pulled over by police officers to explain yourself. They have license plate scanning cameras attached to their police cars that read the license plates of every car they pass on either side of the road, so if you have unpaid parking tickets anywhere, they will take you to jail. If you stay at a hotel in Lenexa, the police will likely be reviewing your phone call records and will pay you a visit if you make too many phone calls. The police will even come calling on you for information if you have a family member with tickets, and even ask to search your car/hotel room for them. Lenexa has video cameras at most all major intersections. A pretty safe place to be for sure, just make sure you make enough money or you may not enjoy living there. :)[read more...] |

Family life in Lenexa, Kansas - 1/26/2008
We originally choose Lenexa as our family home because of the highly rated Shawnee Mission school district. Our two children, now grown, excelled in through the district's challenging academic programs and through the exposure to a huge variety of activities and career opportunities. But beyond education, Lenexa is a great place to raise a family because of its proximity to all the cultural and entertainment venues Kansas City has to offer; its close-in variety of outdoor recreation destinations (okay, not quite like hiking in the mountains, but Shawnee Mission Park is a lovely alternative!); the beauty of Lenexa's well-established trees and well-kept parks, greenspaces and walking and bike paths; its well-maintained public resources; the reasonable cost of living and affordable housing; as well as its very personally dedicated government representatives. Lenexa is a wonderful place to call home![read more...] |
