In addition to MSU, the KY Folk Art Center, Cave Run Lake, and the site of many regional bluegrass music festivals makes Morehead an excellent place to visit and study the cultural and artistic history of the region. Wonderful place to live! - 8/31/2007
Morehead, Kentucky, is a wonderful place to live for me. It has the cozy, safe, friendly small-town atmosphere and is surrounded by forest. In minutes, I can be lakeside or hiking! Having Morehead State University here means interesting, and affordable, cultural events are always available to the community. Plus, having college kids around keeps things lively and youthful! When I am in the mood for a big city, we are only 60 miles from Lexington to the West or 60 miles to Ashland toward the east; and only about 150 miles from Louisville or Cincinnati. I feel like I have it all! I can live in a small town with a friendly community, and still have access to cultural activities and big city shopping without ever having to give up the great outdoors!
