Liveing In Bangor Maine For 10 years where is the - 11/19/2010

Bangor Maine is a joke when it comes to police protection and homeland security. I have lived in this town in Maine for 10 long years and the Authoritys often just look the other way. what a joke for a town that had terrorists come through it and try to bye cell phones and then go on to crash planes into the twin towers in New York. If you ask me Bangor's whole ifastructure from the town officials to the police and other authoritys must be On The Take/Being payed off to look the other way so they can pocket some $$$$$$. Car torched after methadone clinic opened - 4/5/2009

Shortly after a meth clinic opened in Bangor, my station wagon was looted and burned in the middle of the night. I found drug needles on my front lawn. Maine ranks 47th in crime, but avoid the large cities. Bangor is a mecca for the poor and sick, having more services and facilities than any other place I've ever known. Unfortunately, that means cars get looted.[read more...]

Outdoor Magazine Will Discover Bangor! - 5/7/2007

With the beautiful Kenduskeag Stream dividing the east and west sides and the majestic Penobscot flowing by, Bangor has a beautiful city site. It is also a city of parks (it even has a city forest). Maybe most important in this category: Bangor is the gateway to the North Woods--an easy drive to Moosehead Lake, Baxter State Park (one of the largest parks in North America), and Mt. Katahdin--and to Acadia National Park.[read more...]

Crime - 9/20/2006

Drug related crime and theft have risen a lot since I was younger, but there is still very little violent crime, and there are no places that I don't feel safe walking around. I may not want to leave my car unlocked, which a lot of people here still do, but beyond that, crime is not a big worry around here.[read more...]

Bangor, Maine - 8/20/2005

Slow to change---describes attitude of native Mainers---they pride themselves on being from the state but consider anyone not born here "away". Even if that person has lived in the state for over 20 years! Beautiful scenery as long as its not hunting season--then beware if not wearing bright orange. Its a city that has potential but easily gets overwhelmed with any idea of change! Very much lacking in diversity in regards to restaurants and cultural events; has an abundance of Chinese buffets.[read more...]
