Beautiful town - 8/11/2009
I've lived here in Mount Airy for 8 years (I am a life long Maryland resident). Mount Airy is a beautiful, prosperous town with a rural community feel, but proximity to Washington, DC and Baltimore. People are friendly. High cost of living and high taxes are our main problems here. Winters can be long. Schools are okay. I expect alot for my tax dollars! Mount Airy, Maryland - 9/12/2006
It was once quite bucholic. And there are still many farms, and I can personally attest to nice gardening and hiking in this area. Mt Airy is a hub for the commuters to Washington DC, Baltimore and even Frederick MD. It has gotten progresively more crowded and expensive as the DC and Baltimore commuters push outward from Baltimore, Howard and Montgomery Counties. The living here is still very good. You have the Mountains due West and the Ocean due East. It's temperate. I have been here for 22 years, and am now thinking of downsizing and destressing from the commute.[read more...] |
