Peace City - 5/6/2007
As a proud liberal Democrat, Takoma Park is a fabulous place to live. It's known as "the Birkenstock capitol of DC" because so many liberal thinkers and ecologically minded residents hang their hat here. Takoma is a Peace City, a Nuclear Free Zone, and a Tree City. We have the only corn silo in a metropolitan area (for alternative energy), the oldest farmers market in the state and much more. In fact, we have a statute in town celebrating a free-range rooster "Roscoe" who passed a few years back. Right on the Metro line, you can be on Capitol Hill in DC within 20 minutes, but it's great to come back to all of the "War is not the Answer" posters in everyone's yard.[read more...] |
