Suggestions for moving away from Dedham - 9/8/2007
The best point about Dedham is its convenience to Boston's culture. However, the long winters here and Dedham's total lack of civic pride have me searching for another place to live. Any suggestions for a medium city with a shorter winter and more sunshine yet affordable and liberal.[read more...] |

4 generations have lived here... - 12/29/2006
I grew up in Dedham and 4 generations have lived in the same house. That's the beauty of Dedham. It has decent education and steady population. People do not generally leave Dedham and when they do, often they return. My son had several of my teachers (almost 30 years later). It is a blue-collar town originally, however, I feel it is a safe place to be. Just check familywatch.org. I like that houses have personality here, rather than the cookie-cutter houses in my current neighborhood out east. I've lived all over the U.S. and moving to Japan for a few years. It is a wonderful place to raise a family, close to Boston for singles, and lots to do. Rural places are within an hours drive and access to water, too. Easy access to main highways. The main reason I will not settle down here is the winter. I can not handle 6 months of grey. I need my sunshine.[read more...] |
