Living in Holyoke - 8/25/2009
Holyoke is bad only in downtown and in the public projects. As every city or town, there are good and bad areas with gangs and no gangs. And even then, we've had have only had 2 homicides this year and we are in August. I live in the suburbs and it is beautiful, quiet with beautiful houses and surroundings, kid friendly neighborhoods, places to hike, bike... You can land a good job with good pay depending on your education. Many young people I know around here continued their education and they are young nurses, teachers, dentists, etc. Most of them worked and went to school at the same time. So I don't understand the description of "CHISA". Maybe she/he got stuck in the projects living off the system in the worst neighborhoods (that may not be the case). What I know is that Holyoke is still a good place to live with many good neighborhoods and programs to help those in need.[read more...] |

Well I've never lived anywhere else but from all the places i visited it really is NOT a good place to live. cost of living is lowest probalbly in the state of MA,but thats because its one of the poorest citys not too many jobs and the ones there are, are low paying. we have a lot of crime,drugs and gangs there are more parts of the city that i wouldn't even walk through than those i would. we do have some nice neighborhoods but not to many we have some good schools, but alot of them have kids that are not well behaved.the city also has a really good mall( thats where most of the jobs are).the surronding citys are not that much better but we are by far the worst in western ma[read more...] |
