While unemployment is always a problem here, this city is no worse than any other old Northeastern city. Yes, we do have crime and bad areas, just as any other city does. We also have a vibrant arts community, a growing tourist industry, wonderful coastal location on Buzzards Bay and easy access to Boston, Providence, Newport and Cape Cod. We also have a mild (by New England standards) climate, excellent seafood and a reasonable cost of living.
Is it perfect or the nicest place in America...No...but it has enough good things to allow for a very comfortable life.[read more...]

It's sad to say, but New Bedford has become what Angel said... "a low end dangerous place". Unemployment is high, gangs seem to be prevalent throughout the city, and the culture of drugs and violence is alive and well.[read more...]

I just heard the best analogy today about New Bedford. It's like the Ford Motor comapany ..... it was once great but it will never dig itself out of the hole it's in to become what it once was.
New Bedford is quickly becoming a low end dangerous place. Very sad to see when it has so much history, but you can't beat a dead horse ..... can you?[read more...]
