Lovely Town to Raise Seven Kids, If One Could Affo - 8/27/2008

Quite high standards in this moderately-sized New England town. Recent RE downturn makes houses more affordable, unfortunately if you bought within the last few years (which we did) you now can't afford to Sell your house! Terrific town services, for elders, children (Wonderful Schools!), and all~Great Reading Recreation Dept; beautiful open, well~cared~for preservation land; nice new park areas; downtown area currently being brought back to glory of 1930s era... Commutes are Very Easy~both rtes 93 & 128/95 run right by, also Commuter Rail downtown. However...too many Conspicuous Consumers make it tough on kids who come from less, decent houses make for House~Poverty, sometimes it can be a bit Stepfordish. If only...[read more...]
