Beautiful here in Burton - 10/18/2009

I moved here 3 years ago, but have worked in this area (Genessee) for the last 15 years. (I never minded the drive but I don't miss it). Burton has the most friendly people! (and the best-est mean cops...they keep the crime on from the Burton line). The people here are wonderful, and the city has a small town feel although we dwarf the surrounding counties. It's so nice...you have all the charm of a small town, plus all the cool things of a big city..from multiple malls and every convenience under the sun just a minute away. Plus we have incredible parks, (For Mar Nature Reserve and more) orchards, and a few country lanes still in existence. In my area of Burton the lot sizes are about one acre and most homes have at least one fruit tree (I got lucky and have three) and I'm less then five minutes from the main highways. Besides the huge bonus of being minutes from all the major highways, Flint and Detroit have huge cultural centers. And by the Gods do they have the colleges here! Cost of living here is low as well. From Burton you can work (well of course here and Genessee/Flint) PLUS Saginaw, Lansing, northern Detroit, and Pontiac easily... If you asked me one thing I'd complain about this area....it'd be um well...actually I meant that literally. Well water. A big city like this...and most of this...and the surrounding counties have well water. What's up with that? I'd recommend this area to anyone and still do.[read more...]
