air quality - 6/12/2009
Manistee is a lovely town along the Lake Michigan shoreline. There is a new problem,however,with air quality in the area. The landfill south of town was "grandfathered" in and does not have to meet the up to date standards ordinarily required by the DEQ. In addition a coal burner and a papermill affect the air quality. Well, Manistee has beautiful water fronts. It is a wonderful thing to spend time there in the summers. Summers here however could be classified as warm. There is about a week in the middle of July where you could use air conditioning, but the rest of the summer is very mild. Winters here last forever. It has snowed as early as Halloween, and usually stays until April. Winters are harsh and road conditions are very poor. Fall is beautiful, but is often short, as well as the springs here.[read more...] |

Manistee Michigan Victorian Port City - 12/30/2006
Manistee is a small town that is very beautiful. Lake Michigan is accessable to all that enjoy the beach, fishing, or beautiful evening sunsets. With a newly built High School. students are all treated as individuals. Offered is a privite Catholic School, teaching students grade school through Senior High. Also, West Shore Community College is 25 miles from Manistee. This is a town that is people friendly, with many Churches. The main theme to Manistee is Victorian, and there are fine buildings in our downtown area, along with our precious Museum, and Theater will speak for it's own beauty. Manistee hosts a yearly Victorian Christmas Parade, that attracts people from near and far. As a life long resident of this town, I love Manistee, and will always hold dear the memories of a great childhood and aldult life.[read more...] |
