People here suck but it looks nice - 8/19/2021
I’ve been here a couple months. Everything is beautiful, but the people here are god awful cheap. Don’t know if the people here are all lazy or what, but working here relying on tips makes you want to move away. People here suck but it looks nice Read More

Horrible city - 6/7/2021
I've lived here for 3 years, originally from Port Huron. Moved here because of the beauty, bad idea. The people are snobby and they raise their kids to be as well. I've lived in Morgantown West Virginia so I guess I was spoiled but the beauty in this city isn't worth moving here, the town is ran by Dow and mid Michigan health so everything is under the radar when it comes to criminal offenses. Read More

Many Wonderful Attributes for a city of 40,000 - 7/31/2019
I grew up in Midland and lived there up until I went to college, and now I am back 30 years later.

While I agree that if you are looking for a very vibrant place with a lot of entertainment, this city is probably not for you.

There is a wonderful library, a Center for the Arts center that has some very talented residents performing (in fact, I could not believe some of them are not professionals). The library is one of the best I have used, and I have lived in many larger cities. There is also a very nice bridge area with a very large dog park and walking trails.

What I like best about Midland is that serious crime is pretty much non-existent. There are some thefts and other minor crimes, but serious crimes are pretty much non-existent.

The cost of living is definitely the single factor that is motivating me to stay in Midland. Although the majority of the housing stock is dated and many houses require updates, the housing Read More

Soooo boring - 7/24/2019
The most unstimulating place that I've ever lived. I made the mistake of moving here almost 4 years ago and I regret it terribly. The entire city and all surrounding area is literally swampland. Therefore, the natural areas and hiking trails are inaccessible for half the year or more. ALL roads are straight and flat and all stop lights are timed so that you catch every one. Read More

Not a fan - 5/25/2017
I was born and raised in Midland and while I'll always have some fond memories of growing up there, those memories will always exist within the agonizing boredom and endless monotony that is Midland. The inertia of the town is unlike anything I've ever seen – there’s no excitement, no innovation, no thinking outside the box – and I feel Midlanders work tirelessly to keep it that way. Midland decided long ago to sacrifice anything that could be remotely associated with “fun” for safety. Any new development is immediately met with skepticism and resistance. When I was 18 I moved to Pittsburgh to attend Art School and never came back – to live anyway.

My husband and I visit my family, who still reside in Midland, several times a year. Whenever I visit my hometown I am completely amazed I survived 18 years there. I’m baffled by the people who defend Midland by saying the city is “full of art and culture.” By what standard they’re measuring this against, I’m not sure. As far Read More

Moving to Midland Michigan - 1/19/2010
I left Midland Michigan 5 yrs ago for the west coast. After 5 years in northern California I'm moving back to Midland. Midland is a great place to raise a family. I really missed the high quality schools, the parks, the city services, the many churches, the Santa House and much more. Most of all I missed the people; Midland is a town where people stay. Many families here have lived all over the globe as employees of Dow and Dow Corning, yet they love it here. I'm happy to be back in living in Midland Michigan. As an added perk Midland now has a minor league baseball team, new basketball facilities and the Midland Country Club renovation is near Read More
