Was glad to leave - 10/29/2006
I lived in Michigan my entire life, until one year ago. The unemployment in the state is at an all time high. I do not foresee the economic distress changing anytime soon. After all, the planning was built on automotive and manufacturing.
I did enjoy the relatively low cost of living but the area is not that safe. For its small size, there is a lot of crime. A lot of people are mixed up on drugs.
Otherwise, this is a typical working class city in Michigan. Older homes, and lots of retail and medical. I can say this, I received the best medical care while I was there.
I have since moved to a large city in the NW of the U.S. and there is high competition for any type of public services.
If it weren't for the dead job scene I would've stayed in Michigan.[read more...] |

Actually live in Macomb. Property values are declining and unemployment is over 7 %. Houses stay on the Market for over a year. Very Automotive dependent.[read more...] |
