Baxter is a good place to live. It is a regional center for retail activity, with lots to do, and more than 400 lakes within 30 minutes from the city limits. There are a number of schools, both public and also private, charter schools and Christian schools. Even though Brainerd and Baxter together comprise a micropolis of about 20,000 people, there are many large lots in the city, so it has a feel that your home is private and not crowded. The costs have increased in recent years, and the city council is fond of taxation without regard to the people, but still, the quality of life is good in Baxter.[read more...] |

Hospitality in central Minnesota - 9/22/2008
A community that loves it's place on the earth, Baxter is a place where people looking for a wholesome life gravitate to. That is why our growth has become so amazing. Once people come to our town and see for themselves the great quality of life we have here it is not surprising for them to want to live here or in our surrounding lakes area. Baxter is becoming the hub of that activity. In talking with people who have moved here it is wonderful to hear of the sacrifices made in their lives in order to live here. Sometimes away from family support, not as many cultural outlets, but most of all a drop in salary. Most say it is no sacrifice for being in a place that is a real community concerned over it's members and a place to raise their children and enjoy what the lakes area has to offer. If you like four seasons, it is quite nice here. It is not as cold as it used to be in the Winter. Winter's are somewhat long, but tolerable and Minnesotan's love the outdoors so there's plenty to do.[read more...] |
