No work - 12/5/2011
Small town. Everyone knows everyone else's business. No work. Located in Crow Wing County and has highest unemployment rate in the state. Poor healthcare. Essentia Health is a catholic healthcare system that sees no need to provide reproductive services such as coverage of birth control, vasectomy, or tubal ligation as part of its benefit package. Doctors come here for the outdoor lifestyle but lack dedication to their work. Clinics often close for snow days. The doctors that are here are not very good- husband and son misdiagnosed on three occasions. Very misogynist atmosphere- professional women (doctors and nurses) tend to leave as soon as their contracts are up. Pay for women is not on par with male counterparts-even at the professional level. Great Living - 6/12/2008
I lived in Brainerd/Baxter (Gull Lake)2003-2006 (Army Assignment). It is a very beutiful place, clean, many pine trees, lakes and good hospitality of the people. Good variety of stores for shopping, Target, new Super Walmart, Harley-Davidson shop, plenty of lodging, good restaurants, International Ice Fishing contest, International Raceway, Motorcycle ralley. Fishing, Ice Fishing, Four Wheelers & snowmobiles are a big deal here. Good Schools, low crime, not too hot summers. Winter can be rough, particually February temps of -40 are very common.
I could retire there.[read more...] |
