Monticello, Great place to live - 5/30/2011

Wonderful community where I have lived for 6 years. Friendly neighbors who all help each other. Offerings of shopping amenities such as Super Target, Super Walmart and Albertville Outlet Mall (Albertville is 5 miles E on I94). Huge growth in past 3 years since town is located off I94. Easy 35 mile commute to Minneapolis for work. Just 25 miles from Saint Cloud, another metropolitan college city with many offerings of excellent shopping malls and restaurants. Median home values around $140k. Great schools and Community Center with pool, fitness center. Wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Mary[read more...]

Qaulity of Life - 8/23/2009

I moved to Monticello over 10 years ago. I am a native of Minnesota and I am accustomed to the changing seasons. The city has boasted a population increase from almost 3900 to over 10,000. The neighborhood is peaceful and crime has not been much of an issue as we have county police stationed in the nearby town. The town has plenty of shops, community center and soon will have a rail line just 3 miles to our north.[read more...]

A Way of Life - 6/2/2006

I just moved to Monticello in January. I grew up in a community that had neighbors looking out for each other. I guess I got lucky and moved to one of the few remaining cities that still have that. Monticello is just 40 minutes from St. Cloud, and 45 minutes from Minneapolis. Its not a bad drive if you work in the early morning, evening, or nights to get into Minneapolis. Housing prices are still lower, but will be on the rise with big name stores moving in. A great investment in the future![read more...]

I am living for the day when I can leave this state. I love the seasons but the winter is awful and way too long. All my vacation time is used during the winter going somewhere warm to break up the winter months.[read more...]
