Statistical information is interesting. Having been born in Stillwater in the 50's and mostly raised here, I find the growing population less desirable. Stillwater used to have a viable downtown shopping area and now it is simply a destination for tourist with little desire or reason for hometown people to go downtown. We have a beautiful riverfront town but it is congested with cars running through the main street on their way back to the State of WI, leaving our downtown filled with car exhaust. Beautiful place to live - 5/6/2007
Stillwater is a beuatiful hybrid of small and large town. One can live on a lake and be veru close to all the amenities of a large city...Minneapolis/St.Paul. It is still a neighbourhood town...great quality of life.[read more...] |

Lack of Public Transportation - 7/15/2006
There is a serious lack of public transportation in Stillwater. We have MetroTransit buses that run from our recreation center to the downtowns, however, the schedules are so few and far between that it is a hard system to utilize.
Most Stillwater-arians utilize their very expensive SUV's.[read more...] |
