First Impressions, May Retire There - 7/17/2010
This is a busy little town with people who like people. Downtown is old but kept clean. Could use a few more restaurants so you don't have to drive all the way to Slidel,(?)LA.. The theme that seems to run through it is God, Family, Community and USA. The crime rate is "reportably", high and their education system could use lot$ of $$$$$$ per student. Unemployment is very high but the churches are helping as much as they can and neighbor is helping neighbor plus Bartering for exchange of goods and services has been revived.
Like the rest of the USA today, Picayune needs an economic boost. There are many homes, lots and acreage for sell in all price ranges as well as commercial lots & businesses. It's a candidate for a retirement community but their health services should be improved.......for everybody.[read more...] |
